Description

Visit the Grand-Saint-Bernard Hospice Museum and kennel, where you can see the famous St. Bernard dogs in their original breeding grounds. This tradition is now proudly carried on by the Barry Foundation.

Housed in the attic of the hotel opposite the hospice, the museum showcases the region’s natural environment—from its mineralogy and fauna to its flora and climate. It also traces the unique history and prehistory of this famous mountain pass through artifacts left behind by travellers, including Bronze Age weapons, Gallic coins, plaques, votive statuettes, and Roman coins found at the sites of ancient places of worship.
